In ballet, students are introduced to a more formal class structure built upon a technical foundation. Ballet helps with posture, balance, and coordination. Class is structured beginning at the barre with exercises focused on body placement and developing strength and flexibility. French terminology and musicality are emphasized throughout.
Pointe — Instructor Approval Required
Pointe shoes give ballet dancers the capability to dance fully on the toes. Dancing on pointe requires a technical ballet foundation gained from years of experience as well as certain physical requirements, including strong ankles and feet.
Requirements: 11 years old, minimum of 3 years of ballet, and completion of the pre-pointe class. Students are required to take pre-pointe to prepare, however not all ballet students will be permitted to go on pointe. This is for the safety and development of our students.
